Daniil Medvedev wins the Russian encounter and defeats Andrey Rublev in the ATP Finals.

Medvedev and Rublev, who are good buddies from Russia, were set to have another big match. They already faced off in the Dubai Open final and the US Open quarter-finals, where Medvedev, who is ranked third in the world, won both times.

In the ATP Finals clash in the Red Group, Daniil Medvedev easily beat Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-2. At the same event, Alexander Zverev managed to win against world No.2 Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-4 on Monday.

So, it was another exciting face-off for the Russian pals Medvedev and Rublev, who’ve had some intense battles before in Dubai and the US Open, with Medvedev coming out on top each time.

But, Rublev, who is ranked fifth globally, fell down when he lost the first set and couldn’t put up a good fight in the second set.

“I played really well before the tournament, and now I could show it on the court. I felt really good and quickly got the upper hand,” said Medvedev, talking about his successful start.

In the ATP Finals match in the Red Group, Daniil Medvedev smoothly beat Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-2. At the same event, Alexander Zverev managed to win against the world No.2 Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-4 on Monday.

So, even though Rublev, the fifth-ranked player, felt a bit disappointed after losing the first set, Medvedev was confident and played well to secure a quick victory.

But, Rublev, who is the fifth-best player in the world, felt really sad after losing the first set and not putting up much of a fight in the second.

“I played really well before the tournament, and now I could show it on the court. I felt really good and quickly got the upper hand,” said Medvedev about his good start.

“I like to play aggressive on my serve, but Rublev plays in such a way that he doesn’t give me any other option because I don’t have the power of Alcaraz or Tsitsipas on my forehand,” he added.

On Monday, Zverev came back from losing a set to beat a slow Alcaraz after two hours and 32 minutes in their first match.

“My service helped me a lot. Saving the breakpoint in the first game of the second set helped me,” Zverev said.

“You don’t want to go down a set and a break against the world number two, so I’m happy.”

The seventh-ranked German is playing in this event for the sixth time, having won the title in Turin in 2021 and London in 2018.

Tsitsipas injured

Stefanos Tsitsipas had to stop playing after just three games in his match against Holger Rune in the Green Group on Tuesday. This gave the Danish player his first win in the event.

Tsitsipas, who is the sixth-best player in the world from Greece, didn’t look comfortable when he was behind 1-2. After talking to a doctor during the break, he decided he couldn’t keep playing.

Tsitsipas, who lost in straight sets to Jannik Sinner in his first match on Sunday, seemed to be having trouble with his back. When he left the court, some people in the big crowd at the Pala Alpitour weren’t happy and jeered.
