But before June 2017, they used to change it every 15 days.
In Maharashtra, petrol is now Rs 1 cheaper, and diesel is 97 paise less. In Himachal Pradesh, petrol is 19 paise cheaper, and diesel is 17 paise less. In Rajasthan and Jharkhand, the prices of petrol and diesel have gone down a bit. But in Madhya Pradesh, petrol is 30 paise more expensive, and diesel is 28 paise more. In Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat, both petrol and diesel have become more expensive.

Talking about crude oil, its prices are going down again in the last 24 hours in the world market. The cost of Brent crude has dropped to $80.01 per barrel, and WTI is at $75.50 per barrel.
Right now in Delhi, petrol is being sold at Rs 96.72 per litre, and diesel is at Rs 89.62 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol costs Rs 106.31, and diesel is at Rs 94.27 per litre. For Kolkata, it’s Rs 106.03 for petrol and Rs 92.76 for diesel per litre. In Chennai, petrol is Rs 102.63, and diesel is Rs 94.24 per litre.
In India, companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum decide the prices for petrol and diesel. They do this every day, and the rates depend on how much crude oil costs around the world.
Why do fuel prices differ across states?
Every day, the prices for petrol and diesel are announced at 6 am. Whether they go up or stay the same, you’ll know in the morning. But here’s the thing, these rates aren’t the same everywhere. Different places have different prices because of stuff like Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges, and local taxes.
