Amitabh Bachchan Gifts Prateeksha Bungalow to Daughter Shweta Nanda

In a heartwarming gesture, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his love for his daughter, Shweta Nanda, by gifting her the luxurious Prateeksha bungalow in Juhu. This generous move by the megastar was officially finalized through two separate gift deeds, each corresponding to a specific plot on which the bungalow stands.

The transfer of ownership for Prateeksha, spanning an impressive 16,840 sq ft, was completed on November 8, 2023. The formal registration process occurred the next day.

According to documents obtained by The Times Of India, the combined stamp duty for both deeds amounted to Rs 50.65 lakh. The Bachchan bungalow is valued at over Rs 50.63 crore, as per official market estimates.

Following government rules, the gifting of residential property in Mumbai, like Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha bungalow, incurs a nominal stamp duty of Rs 200 per deed, along with a metro cess of 1 percent.

Prateeksha, situated in Juhu, comprises two plots. The first is jointly owned by Amitabh and his wife Jaya Bachchan, and the second is owned solely by the megastar. This adds to the Bachchan family’s real estate portfolio, which includes other Mumbai properties like Jalsa and Janak.

Amitabh Bachchan, on an episode of his show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), shared that the name Prateeksha was inspired by his father’s poem, translating to “all are welcome here, but there is no wait for anyone.”

Prateeksha holds sentimental value as it was Amitabh’s first residence in Juhu, where he lived with his parents, Teji and Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Additionally, Amitabh recently expanded his real estate holdings, investing in four offices covering 8,400 sq feet in Oshiwara, Mumbai, at a reported cost of Rs 29 crore.
