SSC GD Selection Process & Paper Pattern
Applicants who pass all phases of the selection process will be appointed as Constable GD. There are four phases in the selection process, and candidates’ performance in these phases will determine their suitability for the vacancies. Those selected will become constables in various defense forces of the country.
The four phases are as follows:
1. Computer Based Examination (CBE)
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
3. Physical Standard Test (PST)
4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
Computer Based Examination
In the first phase of the selection process, candidates will be invited to participate in the Computer Based Examination (CBE). This exam will be conducted online, and successfully passing it will qualify candidates for the next stages of the selection process.
Here are some key details about the CBE:
- There will be 80 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in the test.
- Each question is worth 2 marks.
- For each incorrect answer, a penalty of 0.25 marks will be deducted.
- The questions in the test will be at the Matriculation (10th-grade) level.
- Candidates will have 60 minutes to complete the test.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Following the written examination, candidates will be required to participate in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). In this test, candidates must complete a specified race within the given time limits:
- For Male Candidates: Run 5 kilometers in 24 minutes.
- For Female Candidates: Run 1.6 kilometers in 8 minutes and 30 seconds.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates who successfully pass the PET examination will then need to participate in the Physical Standard Test (PST). The authority will evaluate applicants based on their physical fitness and adherence to the standards set by the defense forces.
