U Save Rebate Eligibility

The U-Save Rebate 2024 in Singapore offers automatic support to eligible households, assisting with utility expenses. This rebate is distributed through the utilities accounts managed by SP Services. Starting from January 2024 until December 2025, Enhanced AP U-Save rebates will be provided quarterly, with an increase of $20 compared to last year’s rebates.

U Save Rebate Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the U-Save Rebate 2024, you need to meet certain residency and ownership criteria if you live in an HDB flat:

  1. Residence and Ownership:
    • If you own and live in the HDB flat or rent it out partially: At least one Singapore Citizen owner/occupier must be present.
    • If you rent the entire HDB flat: At least one Singapore Citizen tenant must reside there.
  2. Property Ownership Restriction:
    • Owners/essential occupiers: You should not have ownership or interest in more than one property if you own and live in the flat or partially rent it out.
    • All tenants: You should not have ownership or interest in more than one property if you rent the entire flat.

There are no income restrictions for eligibility for the U-Save Rebate 2024.

U-Save Rebate Amount 2024

The U-Save Rebate 2024 is calculated based on two main factors:

  1. HDB Flat Type:
    • 1 & 2-room flat: Up to $950
    • 3-room flat: Up to $850
    • 4-room flat: Up to $750
    • 5-room flat: Up to $650
    • Executive/Multi-generation flat: Up to $550
  2. Regular vs. Additional Rebate:
    • Regular GSTV-U-Save: Given quarterly (January, April, July, October) based on the flat type.
    • Additional Assurance Package (AP) U-Save: Double the regular amount, distributed twice (in July and January).

Considering both parts, the total U-Save Rebate you receive depends on your flat type and the time of the year:

  • Before July 2024: You receive the first three quarters of the regular GSTV-U-Save.
  • After July 2024: You receive the first regular GSTV-U-Save tranche and the first AP U-Save tranche.

As a result, the total amount you receive ranges from:

  • 1 & 2-room flat: $440 – $455
  • 3-room flat: $380 – $395
  • 4-room flat: $315 – $330

Regular vs additional U-Save rebates

Previously, the U-Save Rebate was a component of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Voucher (GSTV) scheme. In 2023, an additional initiative, the Assurance Package (AP) U-Save, was introduced to provide extra assistance.

Regular GSTV-U-Save: Given out quarterly (January, April, July, October) and determined by HDB flat type. For 2024, amounts vary from $65 to $130 per quarter.

AP U-Save: Distributed in two instalments (July and January) and provides double the standard rebate amount.

Guide to checking U Save Rebate 2024 payment status

To ensure you’ve received the correct U-Save Rebate amount, consider the following options:

  1. Automatic Disbursement: The rebate is automatically provided based on your eligibility and HDB records. No application is required, and you don’t need to actively track its status.
  2. Fixed Schedule: The regular GSTV-U-Save is disbursed quarterly (January, April, July, October), while the AP U-Save is disbursed in two installments (July and January).
  3. Direct Crediting: The rebates are directly credited to your bank account or Singapore General Hospital (SGH) MediSave account linked to your HDB flat.
