Today’s Diwali Muhurat Trading: Timings, Details, Significance, and Everything You Need to Know

Diwali Muhurat Trading 2023 today: The BSE and NSE will be open for an hour today, November 12, even though it’s a Sunday, for the Diwali Mahurat trade.

As per circulars from both exchanges, the symbolic trading session, which includes a 15-minute pre-market session, will be open from 6 pm to 7:15 pm today.

What is Mahurat Trading?

Mahurat trading is like a special hour-long trading session that opens on Diwali every year in India. This day is seen as a lucky time to invest in stocks.

Market experts say a lot of people are likely to be interested and take part because Diwali is considered the “perfect time to start anything new.” Investors are believed to gain benefits throughout the year from trading during this session.

The idea is that trading during this auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth. So, even though regular trading is closed on Diwali, this one-hour window is opened.

Any trades made during the Mahurat session are settled on the same day, during the 15-minute pre-opening and closing sessions.

Last year, the BSE and NSE were open for Mahurat trading from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm on October 24.

Diwali Mahurat Trading – Date and timings

The Muhurat trading will happen today, November 12, between 6-7:15 pm, according to circulars from both the BSE and NSE. This includes a pre-market session from 6-6:08 pm, as mentioned in separate circulars from the stock exchanges.

In addition, the block deal window will open at 5:45 pm. For the commodity and currency derivative segment, the muhurat trading session is scheduled from 6:15-7:15 pm.

It’s important to note that trade modifications will be accepted until 7:25 pm to allow for any necessary changes.

Mahurat trading – what can you invest in?

Trading windows will be open across different market segments. This means you can invest in equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB) during the same time.

It’s worth noting that the markets closed in the green during Muhurat trading sessions in 2022 and 2021. The Sensex and Nifty each gained 0.88 percent during last year’s session and 0.49 percent in 2021.

Market movements are expected to be a bit unpredictable during today’s session.
